bizarre law.

I think we might have had a thread like this on the old spork board but what other dumb laws are there in america?

Don't worry about the hillbillies too much, I'm pretty sure they are up against the Fair Housing Act if someone bothers to take it to court.

I would guess it has mostly to do with cloud seeding and agriculture, not nearly as interesting as what is, in essence, a sophisticated heat beam called a "laser".

"It is illegal to urinate on the Alamo."

Why exactly is this a dumb law?

Not dumb, just unnecessary. If someone catches you pissing on the Alamo, they have the right to shoot you on-sight and what jury is going to convict him/her/shim? Its all about deterrence.

Now there's a law I'd like to see!

Stupid laws are for everybody!

http://www.thesite.org/flash/dodgy.html

Placing a postage stamp that bears the Queen (or King) upside down is considered treason in UK. Until very recently treason was still an offence punishable by death in the UK.

In the UK its illegal for a boy under the age of ten to see a naked shop dummy.

Ever gone fishing on a Sunday? In Scotland this is illegal. One of the reasons the law was originally brought in was religion. The Church feared that congregations would fall if fishing was allowed on Sundays.

Among currently enforced laws that irritate me... not being able to buy alcohol before noon on Sunday.

That's the law here too.
(I guess it's better than some states/counties that are dry all day Sunday so you have to stock up on Saturday for those interminable family get togethers  )

They were trying to change the law so restaurants could serve bloody marys and mimosas Sunday mornings and a bunch of aldermen were freaking out that girl-drink drunks would be carousing the streets before noon. Meanwhile the after hour bars are open until 5am Sunday anyway.

I think it finally passed.

girl-drink drunks
If this were the Spork board. . .

And I were a naive newbie. . .

I would request this as my member status.
