What would you like to know about my Cox?

Postby mere1975 » Tue Dec 02, 2008 9:44 pm

I am thinking of applying for a position at SMU, and if I got it, I would be responsible for a publication called Cox Today.

*snicker*

I'm not the only applicant/student/employee to joke about Cox, right?

I had some classes in the Cox school my first couple years. then i realized I really didn't like accounting and MIS and all the cocks who cheated their asses off in my classes. or their pleated shorts with long sleeve button downs tucked in. or their Porches. or their shitty donald trump hair. or their dicky white smugness. or a couple professors. or that guy in my class named robert smith who had no idea there was a much cooler guy named robert smith. ahhhhh. better.

good luck, will the job be on campus? i like the campus. pretty. and I like the meadows museum.

Yeah, I guess it would be there on campus. Which would be the best part of SMU, except that I might also bump into cool anthropology students from time to time.

I have a friend who did SMU's accelerated MBA - it was the full time gig with two international trips, not the nights and weekends one. I remember there were lots of "mixers" involved and he sent thank you notes to people that he talked to / exchanged cards with at the mixers (which I thought was geeky-bordering-on-douchey, but he's really a good guy). Is that done by the Cox Business school? He never made jokes about it to me, maybe he was ashamed.

Yup, that's Cox. I have a friend who did it too, and went to Asia for a few weeks. Dammit.

You should totally apply. My friend Damon woks in the bursar's office, but you don't have to have lunch with him if you don't want to :).

I will arrange a weekly lunch with you at Peggy Sue's if you get the job. Best bbq on the planet. At lunch I will make cock jokes and let you complain about your coworkers if need be. Deal?

Are you doing cover letters? Probably, because you're an adult and know how to do things. But I spent vast amounts of time learning how to write great cover letters and eventually got this job at TBI and surgery observation, etc.

Although my position is unpaid.

And it took them 6 months to find me something.

Don't listen to my advice, ever.

my callback rate is worse than that. but i haven't applied to too many places. it's annoying to try and get hired in a town where no one knows you in these tough economic times.

I'm on the job hunt too. Just submitted two applications today. The university job sounds cool, go for it!

you should totally create a mascot--like some middle-aged white dude in a suit who gives the thumbs up--and name him "mike hunt."
