i heard this song on the radio in the car t'other morning, although it reminded me of the divine comedy (drums from tonight we fly) and the coral (general tones) it still hung together enough to make me think who's this and when's it coming out.

I think I'm finally getting old. Most new stuff I've heard lately sounds like a screeching white noise. Everything Jools has had on lately has just really disappointed me. It all started with that band MGMT. I haven't liked anything new since (at least by new artists).

My patience for "rock" has worn thin as well. What's happening to me?
i feel your pain, my expatriate friend. it's what i call 'blog-rock' and it's crap.

the best thing to do is to investigate the music of people whose music you liked a while back. there's some beautiful stuff coming out from ex-Beautiful South people, esp. the band Homespun.

i wish more artists were true to themselves and their fans, like Eels. i bought their two compilations this week and have really been reminded why E is one of the greatest songwriters of our generation. He follows his muse, he follows his heart, and his music never disappoints.

if worse comes to worse, spend time with instrumental music. can't go wrong with wordless music!

touche. pedals1 thought to be fair that was started as an oral history document--was never intended to be what it has since become. it used to be interviews only. i just ran out of time, thanks to my dayjob. thanks a lot, maturity! (may start it back up over the summer when i start teaching)

but what i'm refering to is music that is *specifically* marketed to blogs and pushed at excessive $$$. i was guilty of that at once and i really don't do so any more. it used to be 'bands are made big because of word of mouth' and now it is 'lets make bands big by promoting them in the blogosphere'--a 'sphere' that is increasingly controlled by major labels.

like EMI owning Stereogum. or Capitol owning Filter.
