2008 album purchases

Music, movies, entertainment, etc. Because James wanted it (and seems like a pretty good idea)

2008 album purchases

Postby Jan » Tue Jan 29, 2008 8:52 am

So far this year I've bought:

Sons and Daughters ~ This Gift
Stars ~ Set yourself on fire
The National ~ Boxer
Black Mountain ~ In the Future
Dawn Landes ~ Fireproof

Anyone uncovered any gems this early in the year?

i bit the bullet and finally joined emusic. i've spent most of my credits on older stuff, but i did get:

grant lee phillips - nineteeneightees
hal hartley - possible music
headlights - kill them with kindness
ingrid michaleson - girls and boys
julie delpy - s/t
kristy maccoll - the stiff years

all of which i'm loving. headlights sounds like a submarines/metric lovechild so i'm totally down.

i am now taking recommendations though, so let me know what's good!

I've bought quite a bit, and absolutely nothing new:

Captain Beefheart & The Magic Band - Shiny Beast (Bat Chain Puller)
Captain Beefheart & The Magic Band - Doc At The Radar Station
Frank Zappa/Captain Beefheart - Bongo Fury
Phil Ochs - All The News Thats Fit To Sing
Phil Ochs - I Ain't Marchin' Anymore
Sun Ra - Lanquidity
Sun Ra - Super-Sonic Jazz
Dennis Rollins - Big Night Out
Dennis Rollins - Make Your Move
Carl Fontana - The Great Fontana
Christian Lindberg - Classical Trombone Concertos
Ian Ball - Who Goes There
Gillian Welch - Soul Journey

Plus a lot of classical and opera stuff that would take far too long to type out...

Believe it or not, he actually has a greatest hits, which is pretty funny...

But I would start with these two:

When I write em down, they really seem random:

Medeski Martin & Wood - Notes From The Underground
Thievery Corporation - Sounds From The Thievery Hi Fi
The High Dials - A New Devotion
Mogwai - Mr. Beast
Lucinda Williams - Happy Woman Blues
Gotan Project - Inspiracion-Espiracion Remix
Booker T & the MGs - Melting Pot
