Rufus Wainwright

Music, movies, entertainment, etc. Because James wanted it (and seems like a pretty good idea)

Rufus Wainwright

Postby James » Tue May 15, 2007 7:52 pm

This week was the first week in ages where I felt compelled to buy two albums by two of my "automatically buy" artists. One of those is Wilco. The other is Rufus Wainwright.

So as I was listening to the new Rufus record, and reading through the liner notes, I come across something interesting on track 5.

Louis Schwadron - French Horn

That's cool.

Could never enjoy Rufus' voice, but well done for Louis.

How is your other 'automatically buy' artist album? I love Wilco's YHF, but A Ghost Is Born disappointed me, and the new one sounds like it's going to be an average bunch of songs. So far I've avoided the disappointment I'd probably feel by not buying the new album.

To be honest, I've bought it but not listened to it yet. But I liked "A Ghost Is Born" just fine...I've even come around to liking AM, which is an album I've hated since it came out. I don't think my opinion on Wilco would persuade anyone either way, because I'm a Wilcoite for life.

I can understand about Rufus' voice. Sometimes he sings a bit flat, but my god nobody arranges songs better.

I think he played on the upcoming album, but he's not in the band anymore.

Apparently, he is still in the band.

I also saw his name mentioned prominently in a review somewhere recently.
Are you on the list?
