Have you ever gone through the "10 Items or Fewer" lane with more than 10 items? And do 3 of the same type of item count as 3, or as 1?

Yes. And it was on purpose.
As for the whole "two of the same items count as one item," If I were king of the world, that nonsense wouldn't be allowed (because the limit is really based on the time it takes to scan the items, not the variety). But seeing as everyone else does it, so do I.

Is there a grocery store in your neighborhood that ALWAYS has long checkout times, no matter what time of day it is?
