How do you feel about elipses, really?

Is the allure of the mystical unsaid enough to support this pompous "punctuation"? Is trailing off really that admirable that we call it mystery? Or is the elipses truly an exit that you use simply to escape a sentence you don't know how to finish?

Mat Dickie ends every single paragraph he writes with an ellipses. He says it's because he's always looking to the future. I say it's because he suffers from mental retardation...

Is there not enough pauses already, what with the current punctuation and the natural pause for the breath of oxygen?

Do you not find the pause created by the elipses somewhat obnoxious?

I use elipses instead of *snip* when shortening a quote. I'm not sure how that falls in the usage guide but I'm pretty sure *snip* never caught on because it looks idiotic.

I love them. LOVE them. I have to stop myself from overusing them. When I use them, it's usually at a spot where I feel like the person I'm addressing should elaborate. This morning I sent, "I don't know what "SMB CRM" means..."

Meaning, "tell me what those crazy acronyms mean." I could just ASK what it means, but I'm not sure I care. I mean, I may not need to know that and my brain is full of enough useless information already.
