It was not directred at deadfly. It's just that the conversation over there can be somewhat vomit enducing. But I'm all about your forum. I just wish the discourse was different. But I don't want to start a whole discussion. But it is not directed at deadfly or anything like that.

exaaaactly. i gotcha. i really hate all that overly happy shit. though, i am a happy person. just the feel of this forum ismeaner....no....straight to the point....yes!!!......and that's prolly what I like the most about this forum(forkers)......everyone is not always super uber nice and not always hoping everything will be fine with their too small youth t-shirts!........![]()
*sigh*
Sandra
P.S. not always super uber nice meaning this place is nice and cool but not in an annoying way.....oh damn,...I give up!

yeah. i will agree that the conversation over there is sometimes vomit enducing. and i actually go there a lot for a good laugh. there is just way too much love circulating that forum, fo'realz.
but a lot of people say that forkers is boring. which sometimes it is. but the few topics we have are at least interesting.

I would never be a part of a "forum" war. There is no war between forums. The following statement is not directred at Devdog (a fine chap)....but sometimes I just have to vent with the current state of discourse about The Polyphonic Spree. It sucks because I quite like talking about the spree. But if you can understand my frustration with the discourse then...well...we will just have to agree to disagree. That's why I posted it here. But it is not personal.I would like to add a couple of things to this discussion:
I don't think there are sucky people on either forum. I think both sides have it good.
There is no war going on between the two forums.
Everyone is more than welcome to join up and post over there. If you don't that is fine too.
That is all.![]()

I always come here for a good laugh that's for sure (in a good way....me loves Nerf and Squashed posts!).....I barely post on the spork forum unless it's useful to the new/old fans' education.....(or tripping daisy related)....yeah. i will agree that the conversation over there is sometimes vomit enducing. and i actually go there a lot for a good laugh. there is just way too much love circulating that forum, fo'realz.

I just don't understand how people can be so nice all the time (and most of them do are REALLY REALLY nice people and won't pretend like Sarah and Gail).....

How are you using that against me. Diamonds is a sad song. At least in my mind it is. I think that Tim wrote that song with an ode to some of the horrible things that had happened in the past becuase of obsessions of vanity. I believe it to be a prayer or sorts to keep The Polyphonic Spree safe and the vision of it safe from the same mistakes. I support(ed) Tim to that end. I think about that song a lot these days. I miss the feeling that The Polyphonic Spree envoked in me. I think it is different. I think The Polyphonic Spree that was is gone forever. Now what happens next...I don't know. I'm very interested to see even excited. But I will tell you one thing you mother fucker. Never, ever question my love for the band or my esteem that I deserve in that community. I carried a torch and still do for The Polyphonic Spree in ways that I don't believe you could ever understand. As for the label thing...again I'm not sure how you are using that against me. I think that Hollywood Records sucks. I think that the direction of the band moved away from the "organic" nature that fostered its growth for so long. Even Tim talked about how it was natural and organic. But the stress of just "doing" The Polyphonic Spree is hard enough without jumbling it up with the pressures of a label...much less a shitty one. The Polyphonic Spree needed a benefactor not a record label. But its not a perfect world we live in and that's a shame. I'm sure if Justin is reading to this point, he is quite annoyed by all the spork talk. Becuause of my history and the petty nature of people that think that everything I say about the band is somehow a personal attack or spawned out of negativity would keep or I couldn't even discuss this on the other forum if I wanted. Alas those are the breaks. But don't ever question my love for The Spree / Daisy. In fact, I will make the bold statement that I love The Polyphonic Spree more than any person on Earth. While it's certainly fair game to use someone's own words against them as criticism, (click here and here for examples), it's very meanspirited to make fun of innocent people just to prove a point.
I think a certain someone should revisit his "Have A Day- A Polyphonic Daily Devotional" and stop tarnishing his legacy.

plus, Rubbs is the greatest fan. Also happens to be one of the people who has sacrificed the most for that "rotting in the compost heap" endeavor.

I feel like I've entered into an argument with "Bizarro Rubberman."How are you using that against me. Diamonds is a sad song. At least in my mind it is. I was not using "Diamonds" against you nor was I questioning your love of The Spork (that was). You were, are and always will be a vital part of The Spork's legacy. I was simply pointing out that your use of the "Diamonds" lyrics as an epitaph about the way things used to be was completely appropriate while starting this thread simply to poke fun at the fans of The Fragile "Fucking" Army was very UN-Rubberman-like.
Sorry, but I never thought that you (of all people) would have started this thread in the first place.

No offense taken. You are well within your right to vent either here or over there. All comments are welcome.I would never be a part of a "forum" war. There is no war between forums. For those that think the Spree forum is boring, I was almost about to apologize for it but that would be an insult to those that do enjoy it. Any forum is the product of those who partake in it, just like this forum. If you enjoy it here it is because of the people here and it is the same at the Spree forum. I'm not ranting. Just making a point.
No offense to the Pilotdrift guys but their forum REALLY needs some excitement.

looking forward to hearing the new record, and witholding opinion until then. unfortunately, i feel like what i have seen of the lyrics leaves something to be desired; however, a huge part of that band is the sound blend - aside and including the words. they might very well make the sophomoric vittles we have tasted into a real feast. remains to be seen.
as for me, just like i couldn't care less if fucking catpower is sad again or too depressed to play, i am not too concerned, personally, with the band's political dynamic. maybe if i lived next door it would be different, but as it is, i am just some goofy-ass musician girl who lives half way across the universe, grooving in my jeep with the top off on some mornings to some music that makes the wind feel softer and the air smell prettier.
i have rarely seen a band whose fans were so involved with how many times a week its members changed their fucking underwear. who cares? it's a vocation, and if you are fortunate as hell, you can support yourself somewhat. but guess what -- the more people you know, the more people have expectations of you, and the more people you will probably piss off eventually. more peeps, more conflict potential. everything EVERYTHING is a numbers game.
at the end of the day, it is all a mist that will evaporate anyway. nobody owns anyone or anything, and everyone gets exactly what they deserve. dig it if you do. if you don't, get a fucking guitar and make your own music. but don't be surprised if people love you one day and not the next.
frog"or be a slam poet, haaaaaaaaaaa! and videotape it and let me watch it so i can laugh at you, you fucking modern beatnick, you!"gy
ps -- to the main point, an internet company made a mistake filling an order? shocking!

and i just reread what i wrote and wanted to say that it was not directed at anyone in particular. i guess i was just commenting on a phenomenon of personalization that i find fascinating and oblique.never mind...I really didn't want to start any of this here. I was just venting in a "safe" place...and even then I didn't say anything.
As far as the pilotdrift board...not much goes on there. I just don't think their fan base is much of a message board type crowd.
