Yeah, it's a school night for us as well. Don't know that we'd get to stay long.

The perk of having a forker waitress... we get to tip the shit out of her and we know she won't put spoons on the table.

P.S.
Steve, we went to a different location of Cafe Brazil on the 4th of July with Sam, Sunny & Jason. Same food, just on Greenville Ave. (the Good Records street) instead of in Oak Lawn.
Mmm, I kinda thought so, but I knew it wasn't greenville so it confused me.

A forking waitress would rock. I did some good forkers promotion at lolla.
just read an article on the lateness of amtrak yesterday. they apparently suck.
It's been the comfiest, easiest train i've ever taken. There's SO MUCH ROOM. The only problem is the lateness; everything else is fantastic.

I've just been hearing about the terrorist plot to blow up planes that the British authorities just uncovered. The focus seems to be planes bound for the U.S. from England, rather than the other way round, but just to be on the safe side, I think Steve had better stay here for the time being!

Sounds like it might be a bit of a clusterfuck at the airports.

p.s. yummm, Cafe Brazil

yes, there are now new and greater enforced restrictions on travel so steve beware and try and check out all you can before you fly home...the US is on "red alert".

Apparently carry on luggage was banned coming from the UK, not sure about the US....however loads of new and regular items have been banned (according to the report I've read). THings like, water or any drink item, iPods, phones, etc. So really make sure you go online or call the airport or airline before you leave to have them tell you what you can/cannot bring on the plane, so you can put items in your checked luggage.

I'm soooo pissed right now at those stupid stupid people determined to hurt innocent people. :x

We'll watch for updates on airport security, but at the very least, I might have to drop you off on Monday a.m. to be sure you get through security in time for your flight. . .

We'll see.

or if you don't want to check luggage, you could ship those items home via mail - just a thought

Mere, I thought I read that the UK to US flights were canceled, but not from US to UK, but of course best to call the carrier to make sure.

my office just sent this from our travel agency....

UK & DOMESTIC TRAVEL UPDATE AUGUST 10, 2006

SECURITY HEIGHTENED FOLLOWING UNFOILING OF TERROR PLOT

With the arrest of more than 20 suspected terrorists, the British Airport Authority has implemented tighter restrictions involving carry-on luggage. Lufthansa provided the information below from the BAA. It is effective today with no announced ending date. For flights originating in the UK, please note that laptops must be checked. US-originating flights do not currently have this restriction. Most liquids are prohibited for flights in either direction. As additional information becomes available (including any potential carrier waivers), Industry Relations will advise.

With immediate effect, the following arrangements apply to all passengers starting their journey at a UK airport and to those transferring between flights at a UK airport.

All cabin baggage must be processed as hold baggage and carried in the hold of passenger aircraft departing UK airports.

Passengers may take through the airport security search point, in a single (ideally transparent) plastic carrier bag, only the following items. Nothing may be carried in pockets:

· pocket size wallets and pocket size purses plus contents (for example money, credit cards, identity cards etc (not handbags));

· travel documents essential for the journey (for example passports and travel tickets);

· prescription medicines and medical items sufficient and essential for the flight (eg, diabetic kit), except in liquid form unless verified as authentic.

· spectacles and sunglasses, without cases.

· contact lens holders, without bottles of solution.

· for those travelling with an infant: baby food, milk (the contents of each bottle must be tasted by the accompanying passenger) and sanitary items sufficient and
essential for the flight (diapers, wipes, creams and diaper disposal bags).

· female sanitary items sufficient and essential for the flight, if unboxed (eg tampons, pads, towels and wipes).

· tissues (unboxed) and/or handkerchiefs

· keys (but no electrical key fobs)

All passengers must be hand searched, and their footwear and all the items they are carrying must be x-ray screened.

Pushchairs and walking aids must be x-ray screened, and only airport-provided wheelchairs may pass through the screening point.

In addition to the above, all passengers boarding flights to the USA and all the items they are carrying, including those acquired after the central screening point, must be subjected to secondary search at the boarding gate. Any liquids discovered must be removed from the passenger.

There are no changes to current hold baggage security measures.

Additional British Airport Authority (BAA) Advice

BAA wish to stress that these are precautionary measures. During the next few days airports will be extremely busy, therefore only those intending to fly should come to the airport. Passengers are also asked to use public transport to get to and from the airport wherever possible. Passengers are asked to be patient while these additional security measures are put in place. Delays are likely and passengers are therefore asked to allow extra time for their journey.

Domestic Information:

The Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security has determined that there is a high risk of terrorism against U.S. civil aviation, and the need for extra restrictions to assure the security of air travel. These measures apply to all scheduled and charter flight operations that depart from and operate within the United States and its territories and possessions.

On instruction from the Transportation Security Administration customers will not be able to carry on board any liquids or gels through the screening checkpoint. Exceptions are:

: Baby formula, breast milk, or juice if a baby of small child is traveling

: Prescription medicine with a name that matches the passenger's ticket

: Insulin and essential other non-prescription medicines

In addition, customers may not bring liquids and gels purchased inside the sterile area (airport areas past the security screening zones) onboard the aircraft. Examples of liquids and gels include beverages, shampoo, suntan lotion, creams, toothpaste, hair gel and items of a similar consistency.

All passengers are advised to travel light. Accessible property should have minimal clutter to expedite the screening process.

Passengers should check-in 2 ½ hours early for domestic flights and 3 ½ hours early for International flights, especially if departing from any major city in the United States.

Maybe they will start allowing you to FedEx yourself now. It's probably safer and easier for everyone involved.
