She does sound like a bitch.

But bitch doesn't always equal tough grader. Just like cool teacher doesn't always equal easy. I'd ask around or check her out on MySpace professor ratings.

WOW!
Maybe she was having a crappy day. Or maybe she thought she was being funny. Or maybe she is always like that and she just sucks.

What's the class?

Try going to ratemyprofessor.com. There are tons of professor reviews on there.

This may seem silly, but is it remotely possible that she was kidding? I know a lady who jokes around sometimes, but I can NEVER tell if she's joking or not.

A question for you guys:

I had a brand new teacher last night. When she signed my schedule at the beginning of class, she said this.

her: "Only nine hours? That's a light load!"
me: "Well, I work full time, and I just go to school at night."
her: "Toughen up!"

Fah q!

I have classes with her on Tuesday night and Friday night. :( Should I drop the one I can, even though it means a harder workload this quarter -- to avoid counting on her for 2 grades?

Am I overreacting?

So far, she does not seem like an interesting teacher at all.

tell her that you want to reserve a couple minutes for a life so that you don't end up a miserable hag like her when you, too, are old.

frog"then drop the classes and take a vacation, knowing you helped her cathartically"gy

mere - go to classes and see what kind of teacher she is. First impressions for teachers can be completely different to how you feel a month in, etc, etc. In the last few years I've had some teachers that seem like dickheads at the start but have turned out to be really good, and some nice enough people that teach like total fucktards. so see how it goes.

Unfortunately, I don't have a month to decide. If I want to drop her class and pick up the Thursday night class instead, I need to do it today.

I think she WAS just giving me a hard time. She laughed after she said it, but then bragged that she just got her Masters and still pulls at least one all-nighter a week.

I think I need this class as a prerequisite for a bunch of others, so I will stick with it.

Ugh.

Thanks, everyone.

* Composition & Layout Design
* History of Art & Design
* Conceptual Thinking (weirdo art school class in which we create a new world with hybrid fruits and animals, I think)

If I drop the yuck teacher, I'll have Digital Illustration instead of Composition & Layout.

I would at least drop one of the courses and maybe add one from someone else. And yes, some teachers can be a real pain. Good luck! By the time I even thought about grad school, I decided I didn't like any of my teachers well enough to want to be an assistant to them (GRA, GLA). Also, I had acquired enough debt already. I sometimes wonder if I should have stayed on because I had a lot more coming my way if I did.

I dropped the Tuesday class with the yuck teacher, but I will still have her on Friday nights.

Thanks again!
