actually after having listened to it a few times, I have some questions I'm hoping somebody can answer. okay, what does it mean to be a coconut; and, if I am indeed a coconut, how is that preventing me from hearing what God is trying to say to me? and if indeed the fact that I am a coconut is preventing me from hearing God, how can I change so that I will be something other than a coconut, and so, be able to hear God; and what would I become? also, is it really that important that I listen to God, or could I just remain a coconut and continue on?

That's the "I've got nothing to sayyyyy I've got nothing to sayyyyy I've got nothing to sayyyyy I've got nothing to sayyyyy I've got nothing to sayyyyy" song, right?actually after having listened to it a few times, I have some questions I'm hoping somebody can answer. okay, what does it mean to be a coconut; and, if I am indeed a coconut, how is that preventing me from hearing what God is trying to say to me? and if indeed the fact that I am a coconut is preventing me from hearing God, how can I change so that I will be something other than a coconut, and so, be able to hear God; and what would I become? also, is it really that important that I listen to God, or could I just remain a coconut and continue on?
That's up there with the Lovely Lady Lumps song as one of the worst songs I've heard in my adult life.
How could it be on the same album as two songs that bounce around in my head all day and make me smile?

actually I really dig that song. it's so much different than every other strokes song ever written, and the reason it is great is mainly in that he's speaking the absolute truth, he's got nothing to say. most other artists never admit that, they'll just go on forever singing about nothing, whereas he's just basically like here it is, I've got nothing, deal with it. I think it's fantastic. but yeah razorblade and especially you only live once are fucking amazing songs too. also red light is up there in my favs.

I hadn't thought of it like that. . . Good point.

I will be the dissenting voice against First Impressions of Earth.
It stinks.
With the single, Juicebox, I was expecting a heavier lean towards disco-esque rock that I believed to be inevitable.
But when I got the CD, Juicebox stood out like a sore thumb, seemingly not even part of the album. In fact, in my opinion, the best track on there is Razorblade.
This is not your daddy's Strokes. It's certainly not an Is This It Pt. 3, which I am thankful for, but this sounds like a rebuilding record for The Strokes rather than a cementing of their glory.

I haven't given the rest of the album a fair shake or much listening time because I enjoy Razorblade and You Only Live Once so much.
