Happy news

Postby Jan » Mon Feb 23, 2009 9:26 pm

After the traumas this year of disappearing flatmate (I'll get on to that later), I have news that has made me all happy and stuff.

The band that I'm in, Panda Eyes, is playing a local venue of high regard named the Lemon Tree on Friday, and I was told today that there are only 20 tickets left out of a possible 550. Woo, ya, etc... Personally, I was just happy to play at the Lemon Tree, now I have the added bonus of people being there! So I'm all chuffed.

On the disappearing flatmate thing, it's bloody annoying. I contacted my landlord, and they knew nothing about it, and proceeded to get in touch with her. She said that she had sent them a letter a month previously stating she was moving out (nice of her to tell me) and she thought that would be all she needed to do. But she never read her tenant's agreement, which stated she would have to leave by mutual consent. Anyway, through journalist friends, I managed to get in touch with her mother, who knew nothing about it as well. This is where I think it gets strange. If you were told that yr daughter had just moved out of her flat without warning, wouldn't you want to get in touch with her to find out what happened? Not her! I phoned her the next day asking if she had heard from her, and she was so nonchalant about it, sounding like she didn't give a fuck basically. I stated to her that her daughter had left me with 2 months rent to pay and no fucking furniture in the bedroom (which belonged to the flat). ARGH. I'm quite stressed at this point, and the landlord isn't helping. The terms of my lease state that I am liable for any rent due if they can't get in touch with her, which happens of course, as she supplied a false work phone number, stopped replying to emails and changed her mobile phone number.

I do have a new flatmate who moved in last Wednesday and he seems like a nice fellow. He plays in a hardcore band named Escape to Victory.

I have had to fork out for new furniture, but my landlord hasn't pestered me about the due rent, despite my repeated queries...

What happy news to people have then?

dude, that roommate situation is messed up. sorry she stuck you with a shit situation.

fun things for me: i lost my phone the other night somewhere. i called everywhere i'd been looking for it (with jason's phone), no one had it. then we got a call from a random guy who found it in a gutter on greenville. odd. but awesome that i didn't have to shell out money for a new phone.

then i was working on my computer and it just shut off with no warning. uh, awesome. wouldn't turn back on. justin the hero told me to dust the battery connectors and it came right back on. awesome that i didn't have to shell out money for a new computer.

and my bestie amelia was in town for the weekend, we had an awesome time. we went to the airport yesterday to drop her off but turns out her flight got changed and we got to hang out for an extra day. this weekend is jason's birthday, and then next weekend, my friend marinda is in town. lots of good things are happening right now for me.

that's really unfortunate about the flatmate thing. you'd think her mom would be a little more worried. or maybe her mom is in on it and is playing dumb about where she is. hopefully the landlord will cut you some slack on the past due rent. and now at least you have another roommate so it's not all bad. and good luck with the big show with your band.

as for good stuff with me: my algebra project is already done a week in advance. am i a badass or what. also, i got a nintendo ds this weekend. i've been longing for it for a while. and that's about it my life is boring.

The good news -- just met with my new boss and it sounds like I shouldn't be getting a severance package (that he knows about) anytime soon.

The bad news -- just met with my new boss and it sounds like I shouldn't be getting a severance package (that he knows about) anytime soon.

I'm trying to swing a new job, but I haven't heard back from them yet. I haven't spent so much time staring at my cell phone in. . . well, ever. So I have no big happy news, but hopefully I'll have some later this week/month/year?

Well Mere, it could be worse news - you're getting a severance package consisting entirely of Citigroup stock. Good luck with that whole job thing, it's kinda scary out there.

Great news on the gig, Jan. Have fun!

Hope Friday goes well Jan, Tommy Reilly came over as a decent bloke on the Orange Unsigned - let us know how it goes!

On the other side of the musical spectrum, I'm happy that the new Prodigy album is a return to form - take me to the hospital!

Also happy that my all day meeting tomorrow is now a "pop in for 30mins or so when we need you" which means that I've got 6 1/2 hours unexpectedly free to catch up on the other crap i need to do

of course busy me won't be able to go see him until tomorrow because I'm booked solid today  ( I sent flowers for mama tho)

Good: tax return + bonus = great old sideboard, new-to-us truck for Jason.
Bad: Now I'm broke again. My computer ate this post this morning.
