I need some opinions on this

OK, so our CFO decided a few weeks ago that we are going to have this big joint Finance/ITS "Opening Day" event thing. We've been split into teams of about 7 people and tasked with coming up with names to rally around and decide a track of events we want to take part in.

The whole thing is kind of a boot to the head. Part of me is going to take great glee in his "picnic styled fun" thing since we've been encouraged to wear shorts and tshirts and just have fun. This cracks me up because a large majority of my co-workers have no idea that I'm covered in tattoos. I think it will freak out many of them.

Soooo, because I was unable to attend my "team meeting" due to "real" meetings on Friday, I got elected captain. The shitty thing there is that they even went ahead and chose a name rather than let me work that out. We're the spitballs. Not a name I would have chosen, but not one I'm opposed to (did I mention this entire event is baseball themed?).

Today, while waiting for one of my databases to be refreshed, I pulled open Illustrator and cranked this out (don't worry squeezle, your design project is next).



It feels like something is missing to me, but I just can't put my finger on it. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks!

I like it. Perhaps if you had a baseball zooming in the background that might add movement and more excitement? Oh and have fun freaking them out.

I think Hifi's righ; you need a big juicey spitball flying across teh background. Like this image in the upper left maybe. He's gross AND cute!

From the spitball thingie that Sunny posted, I like the crossed baseball bats. Like the forks in our Forkers logo, it could be your calling card.

A diagonal is tough to pull off -- in theory, it creates imbalance and makes the viewer "uneasy." Maybe that's why you feel like it's missing something. I think it's pretty cool, though. Maybe if you made the S's at the beginning and end of the word larger, it would cap off either end of it and give it some more weight?

I'll definitely try bigger S's. I had it horizontal but decided it looked more sickly at a slant. If we do anything with this it'll be a quickie one-color job, so multiple colors are pretty much out of the running.

i agree with mere. diagonal is always sort of unbalanced unless you add a 3rd object in one "corner", like a baseball or something.

another thing would be if you made it horizontal but used lettering or something to make it appear like a spitball hit the wall and splattered into the word "spitballs".

i like that its yellow.
