it's that time of year again. okay well it might be a tad early, but everything is early this year so whatever. and i doubt that any new awesome albums are going to come out in the next 29 days. so let's post our favorite albums of the year.

just to clarify i listed it artist first then album title.

my pick for number 1 (and really this is my pick because i doubt anyone will agree):

Girl Talk - Feed the Animals

i saw this guy live a couple days before my birthday in october. IT WAS AMAZZZING. the album rocks. the live show rocks. the end.

other albums i am in love with/addicted to:

Crystal Castles - S/T
CSS - Donkey
Foals - Antidotes
Lykke Li - Youth Novels
M83 - Saturdays = Youth
Tilly and the Wall - O

My best of '08:
Vampire Weekend - Vampire Weekend

Other things I got and liked:
Dropkick Murphys - the Meanest of Times (2007 release, but I just got it this year)
Yael Naim - New Soul is kind of a sweet song that sticks in my head
Jason Mraz - I'm Yours (sue me)
Cobra Starship - Guilty Pleasure (sue me)
T.I. - Live Your Life (sue me)
Adele (didn't get her whole record but I like to sing along to her)
Death Cab for Cutie - Narrow Stairs

I can't really play this game because I haven't been into records lately.

- Mere "but I can't wait to listen to more of 'This American Life' d/ls and 'Too Fat to Fish' by Artie Lange" 1975

I'm still at the thinking stage too, but there are a couple of songs that have had a lot of rewindability this year:

we are scientists - after hours

the evangelicals - bellawood

last time i checked that wasn't an album. what a square.

also i would like to add mgmt to my list as well. i didn't count it at first because i thought it was an '07 release. but i stand corrected.

Mark Olson - Salvation Blues
Gary Louris - Vagabonds
Mark Olson & Gary Louris - Ready for the Flood
(the last one isn't out in the US till '09, but it's out in Europe now, and I have "acquired" a copy so I'm gonna count it)

Jackson Browne - Time the Conqueror

That's all that's caught my fancy enough to come immediately to mind.
