Bon and I were talking about it the other day.

And we agreed. The one thing holding us back just a little bit is Daniel Day Lewis. It just seems it's Bill The Butcher from Gangs Of New York moved out west.

Maybe it's just his American accent.

Sam and I tried to see it Sunday evening, but it was sold out. That's a good sign, I guess!

Fucking Amazing!!!

Damn it, Doom, you're a motherfugging liar!

OK, maybe that's what you though -- but I think it is a real stinker!
- Pacing was too slow for me
- ending too schticky
- music too eerie, disturbing and modern for the period
- no endearing qualities to make me want to care
- no beautiful symbolism or recurring imagery like a PTA movie should have, unless I missed it completely
(although Sam and I talked about the seeping, dark corrupt nature of the oil -- I guess that counts)

What I like about PTA movies is the mix of comedy and pain, as well as a strong relationship between the plot and soundtrack -- and I missed both of those in this movie.

Oh well.

P.S.
DD Lewis' acting was indeed fine. He got the Golden Globe for it.

Sorry Mere, I guess the movie isn't for everyone, didn't think about that.

Ha!

No, I realize I am in the minority on this one. Everyone else who has seen it seems to love it (and I mainly mean you, the Howard Stern show staff and critics.)
