I was thinking contrived shite, but interesting will work.

(Isn't this a Klaus Nomi song?)

whatever dude, i dig this song.

it has the feel of one of their airier remixes at the beginning... i actually love the sampled beats. and then it works itself up into a totally JHLTAB-style jam.. this is one of my summer tunes, fo sho.

what do you think, J?

Any comparison to JHLTAB is completely way off base. Although I do like the overly Radiohead-esque beginning to the song. Nice to see they're trying something different.

let's see, they've stolen/'borrowed' the scrubs/heart thing from danielson (which in an interview with JL Aronson, was a point that was made), they've gotten a look not unlike my chemical romance--jokes aside, it's still somewhat an apt description...putting aside such superficial things...i wonder what bono thinks of them rather shamelessly ripping off 'pride (in the name of love)' right there in the middle of the song.

it's different, yes. but different doth not always mean good. and i'm extremely mixed on it. and i don't really see the Atom Bomb comparisons, though I *do* hear a bit more of a 'rock' sound that's sorta-kinda Daisy-ish.

but Congleton did good work with the material.

a lot better than i was expecting.

and i dont hear the daisy in this song as much as a couple others (not the whole album, really) but the bridge in Light to Follow totally reminds me of jesus hits and i dont care what anyone else says.

i'll admit i kinda like 'running away.' but it seems kinda clunky. and the horns seem to be a sore thumb, totall awkward and totally out of sync in the mix. but then, i think that's why i like it. and that song totally sounds daisy-ish, at least to me.

hmm. could be interesting. it's not the same spree of before, but there's no way it could be.

edit: isn't 'running away' a remake of 'kids are calling?' or ''community mantra'? sounds a lot like a Self-Titled song i can't recall the title of, ESPECIALLY the end.

I agree J. I told someone I thought it was sudden shift...but I just got the title wrong.

An interview OF JL Aronson or BY JL Aronson? What's the context here?

oh, sorry.

i interviewed JL a while back. (need to transcribe it this weekend!) that issue came up, and it was weird because i made a comparison to Dig! and he said that mentioning the spree was something that he had to think about--he felt weird about the sufjan mention in it, in part because Dig! made him think about the way he was dealing with 'one person inspires the other and the other gets way more famous' themes that had been dealt with before.

he also mentioned you--he said a former member of the choir came up to him in austin and was really friendly and had a really nice chat with him. i'm assuming it was you? maybe not. i said 'maybe that's michael turner' and he said the name seemed familiar. ah well, i thought that was kinda neat.
