The commentators on the Pompey Chelsea game spent a good 10 minutes discussing why Andy Cole now prefers to go by Andrew Cole, one of them decided to keep on calling him Andy while the other kept on emphasising the -drew.

The only chance you have to do this kind of thing without some level of (deserved) mockery is between high school and college or work.

I've always loved hearing about celebrity name changes, like Demetre Georgiou/Cat Stevens/Yusuf Islam or Schmuel Gelbfisz/Samuel Goldwyn or Allen Konigsberg/Woody Allen or Bob Dylan/Robert Allen Zimmerman, etc.
