We just walked by there yesterday afternoon. Honestly, I thought it had closed a few weeks ago. There is some sort of logo freshly painted on the wall but I can't remember if it says anything.

I never been to the new one since they moved. And I don't think I have been to the old one more than a handfull of times, I never liked it that much but it was still a part of the Ellum I grew up with. I think the best show I saw there was The Deftones with Orange 9mm, before Deftones got popular.

though deep ellum is dying, is the dallas music scene really dying as well? or is it just being more spread out across the metroplex? reading the Guide Live on Fridays, i'm inclined to think that it's just becoming a bit more of a diaspora....

I think there is some truth to that with the new Cedars venues. What I have always wondered is what makes a local music scene thrive? It seems like it takes a delicate balance of bands, venues, crowds, etc that no single group can really control. So how do you, a city or an association, or whatever, make a difference.
