...by the decemberists guitarist, Chris Funk. We had a little Civil War re-enactment in the middle of the crowd for the last song (A Cautionary Song) and I ended up as a redcoat under the leadership of the new drummer. Not that I'm particularly patriotic, but when the opportunity presents itself...

But before that Colin Meloy had lived his teenage bedroom fantasy by inviting Robyn Hitchcock onto the stage to perform "Madonna of the Wasps" and then Mike Scott (of the Waterboys) to sing "Fisherman's Blues".

it were pretty mental

Redcoats in the Civil War?
Your concept of "Civil War" may only contain the United States. Read up on your Oliver Cromwell history ;)

I was being Americentric because he used the word "patriotic". And as we all well know, only Americans can be patriotic.

It's always referred to in the singular although there were in effect 3 civil wars where the royalists and parliamentarian forces clashed. As the first war was 1642-46, the second 1648-49 and the third 1649-51 they wasn't really much of a gap between them.

After that, we all united to take over the world for a few centuries
