mental cabaret
okay, okay, it's a fair question, and i'm asking this out of curiosity: what do you think of it?
and i'm going to request that you keep this discussion civilized, else i'll request it die a death.

SUCH a bad song title. . .
The song clip I heard didn't stick with me, so I can't remember what I thought of it.

Thanks Chris.
Ok, so I do like it and I think the name is perfect...the music is very much like I'd expect a mental cabaret. Of course it's a bit different from old stuff, but that's ok in my book. I like the demented sound of the music. I don't know enough about music times, but they must be using some wacky ones. Or perhaps it's just the way it's being played. Either way, I like it.

After listening to the track several times, I can't stop thinking about what aquaphase predicted on March 30th in the "Dear Forum Spies" thread:
"My guess is that the Fraggle record will be at least 5 months late, several other band members will be canned because they don't have the "vision," and a Tripping Daisy II will tour with a max of 6 or 7 people and do quite poorly."
Truth be told, "Mental Cabaret" sounds like a very polished and very mainstream "Tripping Daisy" song with "polyphonic" flourishes and without Wes' influence. Which begs the question... if this is the future sound of the band, why do you need 20+ members to create these types of songs? My guess is you don't and aquaphase should quit his day job and become the next "Jeane Dixon" for the National Enquirer.

I'm not psychic (much), I've just seen this happen to about 300 bands. When I worked in radio and promotions, the one thing that made me cringe the worst was the phrases "new sound" and "reinvented" in a band's bio for a sophomore record. Scary scary shits.
