partially on a whim, partially because i'm poor, i made homemade hamburger buns this morning. they came out really, really great! i kind of messed up on the size a little bit, and i misread part of the instructions, but they came out reallly amazing! there's nothing better than the smell of baking bread...it fills the house with love. i know where i went 'wrong' this time, and from the errors of this first attempt, i'm sure the next batch will be even better! i just put some leftover spaghetti sauce on it, and it made a great sammich!

but the best part? the sense of accomplishment afterwards. man, it feels great!

(try mixin your bread with some new potatoes, rosemary and some sort of hard cheese. I've never tried it, because we don't bake bread very often, but i've heard potato bread is delicious!)

I like watching the dough grow when you leave it somewhere warm and the smell of it as it bakes is lovely.

Baking has always been a tough one for me. I did manage, after one complete disaster, to make a soufflé a couple months ago that was tolerable. In the first round, I upended my eggs and milk all over the couter-top, cookbook, shoes, etc. I was a little frustrated.

haha i used to be that way, too!

but i was too lazy to get my damn bread machine out of storage this weekend. plus, i wound up only using it for making pizza dough.

I want some of those yummy homemade (thick) corn tortillas...mr j get on it!
