we were down in plymouth last weekend so popped down to have a look at where the mayflower departed from...

and why there wasn't a roach on the mayflower....
(i had this vision of yr great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great grandfather seeing the sign and jumping off the mayflower to get some premium strength lager instead of discovering the new world jason)

I think that's cool. I'm one of those history geeks that is prone to goose bumps when I actually see a place where something big went down.
I wish I knew the story of how my family ended up over here. I lose them in Tennessee, Georgia and Louisianna. And that's going back about 7 generations.

I am a Mayflower descendant. On my mother's side of the family, we can trace our roots back to Peter Browne. (However, on my father's side... nothing but Minnesota white trash).

That is exactly what happened to me! And the area right next to it is called the Barbican (one of the few places that didn't get bombed in the war). It is very old world with cobble streets and cool old buildings. Its easy to imagine it back then when people were bustling around getting ready to set sail for the new world.
