HEB rules. Srsly. In fact, to celebrate the praise here, I think I'm gonna make a run to my local HEB.

I asked my manager (the one who joked about taking a dump) about it since she came from Central Market, and she said that rumor has been around for years. . . however, the last time she talked to a coworker from there, the coworker said they are eyeing the Central Market Plano location and may turn that into a super giant HEB market.

Waco is an almost entirely HEB town. The only real difference between CM and HEB is that HEB carries many more "conventional" products. HEB always had way better selection and prices than any other place in Waco. We could get good organic food there, and the beer selection was always the best.

...and that CM has a cooking school. And the one in Plano is run our friend Dean, so I'm hoping Mere's friend is wrong, since he's happy there and it's close to his house.

Actually, does HEB carry bulk herbs, or have the fancy ass deli case / take away stuff? And the cafe?

aren't Central Market and HEB in the same corporation?

EDIT: Yes, they are.

mr_j is correct: HEB and CM are the same company. Any changes to the Plano store will probably be purely cosmetic with limited impact to the people working there.

It's all speculation. Like I said, she said these rumors have been floating for years. I imagine if they did rebrand it, they'd want to make it some kind of HEB flagship store, and perhaps keep the cooking school, herbs, prepared food cases, etc.???

You get used to it. That's where squeezle and I do the majority of our weekly shopping. It's also where I got caught calling a couple of "little people" dirty hobbitses.

I won't get excited until I see the return of Piggly Wiggly.

Then I will pee a little bit with joy.

Why HEB rules. Reason #23562:

"buy a spiral ham, get a 12-pound turkey FREE, as well as a box of stuffing, a can of cranberry sauce, and veggies"

So...for less than 30 bucks, you can have a nice Thanksgiving feast!

That's mighty fine value-for-dollar, especially in these rough economic times

Be careful, dry hyping can lead to some serious chafing. pedals1
