my sister emailed this to me:

A first grade teacher had twenty-four students in her class and she
presented each child the first half of a well known proverb and asked
them to come up with the remainder of the proverb. It's hard to
believe these were actually done by first graders. Their insight may
surprise you. While reading these keep in mind that these are first

These were not written by children, but by an adult who mourns the loss of Kids Say the Darndest Things in the CBS line-up.

- Mere "remember when Stewie was on that episode?" 1975

(Still, funny.)

- Mere "my cubicle neighbor has this posted on her bulletin board" 1975
