I decided I like him way more than all the other gubernatorial candidates, so I started collecting signatures for him.
I usually vote strictly for Democrats, but I really don't like Chris Bell.
What do you Texans think?

Rather than elect a leader who's a laughing stock, yeah?i think it's a novel idea, but there's a pretty well established recipe for disaster when 'joke' candidates are elected to public office. i'm not saying he's a joke--i think kinky's a pretty funny guy--but just because he can make you laugh with his soundbites doesn't mean he can be a good leader.

well, he's a laughing stock only to those who don't like him, and like him or no, he did come from a politically-minded background. and i was expecting a comment like yours, i should say that i'm referring to entertainers and celebrities who simply come out of nowhere based upon 'ah, hell, i think i can do this.' like jesse ventura, schwarzenagger, and others.
I think that that Kinkster would make an great govnah!
...and I don't believe that he is a "joke" candidate. He'll make a better governor than that actor out in CA besides he's even older than me and has LOTS of all kinds of experience. Just because he hasn't held an elected office doesn't mean he's not qualified, IMO.
(I worked for Ross Perot when I got out of high school and I was totally surprised when he ran for president - not that he couldn't do the job but that he would have to be accountable to the American public. He's a man who likes straight lines. You know, "the shortest route between two points" kind of straight lines.)

he worked with local government in Midland, where he also worked with the regional offices of the Republican party, and he also worked on his father's staff when he was VP, as well as when he ran for President. What was George Bush's political background before becoming Governor?
Besides having family in politics.
A failed 1978 bid for congress?
Seriously, joe, how many smilies do I have to put in the message for you to see I'm JOKING.well, he's a laughing stock only to those who don't like him, and like him or no, he did come from a politically-minded background. and i was expecting a comment like yours, i should say that i'm referring to entertainers and celebrities who simply come out of nowhere based upon 'ah, hell, i think i can do this.' like jesse ventura, schwarzenagger, and others.Rather than elect a leader who's a laughing stock, yeah?![]()

true. but the thing is, he seems to be more about delivering the one-liners that he thinks people want to hear, and less about actually showing a real, serious platform. cracks about making willie nelson this and that gay people should be allowed to be miserable is all well and good if you're appearing on the tonight show, but it's not a serious platform.I think that that Kinkster would make an great govnah!
