When I got home from work today, I noticed some strange things in my kitchen. Firstly, numerous items seemed to be missing - a toaster, chopping board and some pans I had cleaned the night before. I then went to my bathroom and it looked noticeably sparser than usual, less shampoo bottles and one less toothbrush. I was now a bit concerned, so I looked in my flatmate's bedroom and it was EMPTY. After I had gotten up and gone to work, she must have moved all her stuff (including a bed and a massive chest of drawers) out.

I am completely mystified by this; we had no fallings out (no arguements ever IIRC), always got on fine etc... She had never any problems with rent, and never ever hinted at wanted to move out - not that I would mind anyway. I then spent the hour trying to phone her, but it always went to voicemail. She hasn't replied to any messages I've sent. Unfortunately, I lost her mother's phone number, but I think that I can get that tomorrow.

I've not been able to speak to my landlord yet either, so I will be very interested to see what they say about the whole thing.

that's pretty jacked up. hope all works out, she already pay for January?

What I really don't understand is that, if she wanted to move out, why didn't she just tell me.

I'm really not keen on having to pay twice the amount of rent I usually do if finding a new flat mate takes too long...

I will find out from my landlord tomorrow if she has paid for January - the rent is due on the 18th and she never had a problem paying before.

maybe she got abducted by some cult or something... disappearing like that is just freaky.
