I was just coming over to post this. Until recently I'd actually assumed she'd passed away a long time ago. I'm glad she had a nice long run.
Two comments from Jezebel that sum up my feelings on the matter:

she probably should have died a while back. She got all Jesus-y and basically renounced her legacy.

if i were playing a game alive or dead last week i would have gone with dead. and she inspired many girls who should not have gone with bangs to go with bangs. on some girls bangs just make them funny looking... but when they pull them off they really pull them off.

well, i would have rather had her do that and live a long, healthy life than to have her empty, hollow, and kill herself at a way-too-young age. besides, at some point it must be difficult to reconcile that people only know and recognize you as a jerk-off symbol. i know it's been hard for me at times...

I maintain that the hair influence is a positive one, she can't be heald accountable for people who misuse it.
