I think that dumping in rivers and driving hummers and coal-powered plants ought to be banned long before smoking inside a bar is banned, but thats just one non-smoker's opinion...At least I can leave the bar if I don't want second-hand smoke. I can't leave the planet.
Yet.

i'm a non-smoker and i think that banning smoking is just stupid. i mean, it makes sense like in a school or daycare center or church or something. but a bar?

On the one hand, I feel I should be able to choose how I'm going to kill myself. And if liver cancer sounds better than lung cancer, I should be able to make that choice. On the other hand, I seriously doubt I will ever suffer pulmonary problems because of second-hand smoke, even though I only have 2 friends in Dallas that don't smoke. It is also possible to drink in places besides bars... Like restaurants, homes, back yards, sporting events, etc. If I was that worried, I'd drink somewhere else.
The only thing that really bothers me about smoking is that my hair is like a smoke sponge and I hate waking up the next day with the smell of stale cigarette smoke in my face. I like smelling like myself, not a smoker. (No offense, guys. But you lost your sense of smell from smoking so you don't notice it like I do.) Having to wash my hair before AND after I go out is far more annoying to me than the potential health risks.

you get used to going outside to smoke. when CA when non smoking at first it was like "UGH" then it was like "whatever" and there's usually loopholes. if the bar is owner/worker owned then they can allow smoking. at least that's how a few places round here get away with it. Also if they have an outdoor area like at Zeitgeist, then smoking is allowed.
However, I seriously draw the line at smoking in your personal space, like car or home....they're trying to do away with that as well and that's just wrong.

at least it isn't boston, where going outside to smoke requires putting all your layers back on and STILL freezing your balls off for the five to seven minutes it takes you to smoke a cigarette.
i think smoking bans are retarded.

With the lack of a smoke screen the smell of farts is much more noticeable in bars and music halls. I don't like the smell of smokes but at least it masked ass.
I'm gonna start carrying pocket-sized nag champa now.

I meant non-Moms.
(I meant of the people who I end up going to bars with... I believe the last time I saw you at a bar was my birthday a year ago?)

i don't like the reasoning that "all workplaces should be smoke-free." if you don't want to work at a bar that allows smoking... don't? it's really easy to not work in a smoking environment. there are plenty of places where you can be a waiter or bartender that don't allow smoking. america is kinda fucking dumb sometimes.
