is so fantastically gay and weird that it was AWESOME.
Favorite parts:
- Christine Baranski singing a major cougar version of Does Your Mother Know to a beach full of Greek manboys.
- Collin Firth being gay. Literally. And thus fulfilling every gay man's fantasy.
- Super Trouper
- Meryl Streep singing The Winner Takes It All... for real. She actually has an incredible voice and this was the one song/scene in the movie that was actually good in a non-funny or homosexual way.
- Repeated references to Greek tragedies because of the Greek setting
Ultimate favorite part: Telling people for the rest of the night that we just saw Mamma Mia and seeing their reactions.

I am taking my daughter to see this.
I have this terrible feeling in my gut that I might like it. I'll have to watch a full day's worth of UFC and eat raw bacon just to man up afterwards.

It's just funny as hell. Most of it makes no sense and is terrible acting, but in a way that stays entertaining. To me, anyway. Just go in expecting nothing and just accept the plotlessness and pointlessness and you will be fine. (Kinda like life. Deep.)
Plus the songs are catchy as shit. I'm not ashamed to say I like [some] Abba.

I want to see this, never saw the play. I do love a musical though. Looks good, glad to hear it's enjoyable.

Spoiler alert: it's Mamma Mia. Everyone is gay, even the characters who don't come out. They're singing Abba songs in Greece.
GAY.
Nothing could ever be gayer.

So the fact that I saw batman with Jason last Sunday means I'm allowed to drag him to this, right? Because I've had "Mamma Mia" stuck in my head for a week just from the previews. And I love Abba and I'm not ashamed to admit it, but that's mainly because I learned to love Abba through Erasure - which because they're gay make my love of Abba either so gay it's not gay anymore or just gay enough that its ok. Or something.

I loved Abba before Erasure, but I can still relate. Sometimes I'm so much like a gay man that I become sexually confused. Velvet Goldmine aggravated the situation.
I don't know if "too gay" exists. I think "too gay" = super awesome fun. therefore, perfect.
