Help me, please

Postby Dalya » Sun Nov 25, 2007 6:32 pm

Next semester is going to be sort of stupid. Basically, I can't take any more Chem or Bio classes until I finish Gen Chem II, which I am taking next semester. And I am almost done taking all my core classes, and I only need one more Lit class to finish my Lit minor. So there's not really enough classes for me to take. I can take physics, but UTD isn't offering Physics I next semester (ass holes), so I'd either have to take it at CCCC or wait until next year/summer.

I am for sure taking:
-General Chemistry II (4 hours)
-Calculus I (4 hours)
-Government (Civil Liberties) (3 hours)
-European Poetry of the 19th Century (3 hours)

The thing is I have to take 15 hours at UTD because I'm on scholarship and these 4 classes are 14 hours. The only other core class I need is another government and I may or may not need something else, which I won't know until I officially switch my major and get an advisor in the science department.

So my choices are:

1) Take Spanish I and start a Spanish minor, which would be really useful if I do become a doctor. UTD offers Medical Spanish once you've completed 3 Spanish credits, so that could be useful. Problem: lots of memorizing, which I'm not great at, when I will already be putting in a lot of time for calc and chem.

2) Just take another Lit class and keep trying to double major, even though I don't think I can finish a double major in such opposite areas without taking 6 years to graduate.

3) Take a bullshit class, like intermediate ballet (3 hours) which doesn't really have homework, just requires attendance. Or a SUPER bullshit class which is only worth one credit hour, such as yoga or tennis.

4) Take a bullshit class like yoga so that I have the required 15 hours at UTD and also take Physics at CCCC - this would be good because physics at UTD is v. hard but bad because I'd have to actually pay for the class instead of getting it for free with my scholarship. Also pain in the ass to drive there, etc.

5) Take 2 government classes at the same time to get both credits out of the way and then take only math and science classes for the next 2 years. Problem: it may be confusing to take 2 similar classes at once.

Help?

is there an option where you don't get burnt out trying to do too much but still meet your targets and pass the courses? one of the yoga/dance options could be a welcome distraction.

i'd say get one of those pesky government credits out of the way and then you don't have to worry about them later. either that or take the one credit bullshit course and focus even harder on your other classes.

I recall Greg Thielemann being an excellent professor, so that might make some one of the government classes a little easier.

He doesn't seem to work at UTD anymore. Unless his class filled up right away.
