I must be the slowest reader since Captain Slow, the one eyed pirate, lost his second eye, so I was wondering if anyone here knew anything about techniques to speed up reading. I downloaded an ebook about photoreading but after the first chapter and the ambiguity of 'the unbelievable results' it promised I closed the file. So has anyone here ever come across any kind of speed reading techniques that helped or am I Stuck reading this slow?

It's an annoying advertisement down here for a learning center.
I have no real advice as I'm a painfully slow reader myself.

yeah I've read a lot more over the past few months and I guess my speed and attention span has increased somewhat. Dalya said something about using your finger to guide your speed so I'll try that and I just downloaded a speed reading book from torrentspy.

I was trying to look the same thing up a few months ago. The two things I remember were using a notecard, ruler or finger to keep your eyes from wandering back to the text you just read and a vague idea about 'scanning' blocks of text without focusing on one word at a time. I don't see how that second one could help your comprehension. Maybe it would help you get your Danielle Steel fix?

I read tons and I'm still a slow reader. My comprehension tends to be higher than faster readers, though. It definately depends on the difficulty of the material, but I've just accepted that I'm a slow reader.

As a slow reader who has to learn Korean in the next 4-5 months, I'd just like to say to all my fellow slow readers: never, EVER put yourself in a situation where you have to learn a new alphabet. Shiiiiiiit.
