I'm starting to think he has a chance. I think a lot of black people will vote for him because he's "black" (half). And I think of lot of people who have heard "Hillary's a witch" so many times that they're starting to believe it in spite of themselves will vote for him because at least he's not her.

i honestly don't think he has a chance, simply because those in the party are starting to show danger signs of 'we're only running him because he's black' and not 'we think he's qualified and it doesn't matter that he's black.'

1. constant referernces to 'first black president'
2. basing their support around a man who has very little political experience, but is 'clean' politically
3. constant denials of 'it has nothing to do with his race' -- nothing is more obvious than a denial of an accusation that has not been made


let it be said that i have nothing against Obama, and I think he's a very intelligent man. qualified for president? yes, i think he might be...but not right now.

I heard an interesting piece on NPR last week that discussed how he's experiencing a lack of support in the black community.
Some of the reasons were that many of the traditional black leaders (J. Jackson, Sharpton, etc.) have many years now lent their support to Hillary and they are stuck in a position where they can't switch without losing face.
The other, which I thought was completely ridiculous, is that he's not "black enough". His father was from Kenya and he doesn't have the African-American slave heritage.

Personally, I like him. But I'm still waiting to hear more. So far, I'm not on board with anybody.

Sorry J, I still don't know what your'e talking about. Names / dates would be helpful.

Having said that, #1 is inevitable. #2 is quite common, regardless of race. As for #3, again I have to ask you wtf you're talking about - specifically, please.

Addendum: I just found out Senator Obama is speaking on campus next Friday. I'm totally going.

My support has absolutely nothing to do with his race. My support is based upon his convictions concerning the constiution, patriotism, stance on the war, and the future of our country.

I/E --change concerning the "smallness of our politics" and the "adaptability of our constitution." I don't think I would have said one thing different if I was giving that speech on Saturday. I, so far, am dissapointed with the lack of idealism and freshness of the Clinton Campaign. I also would have a hard time voting for someone who voted in favor of giving Bush the power to do what he did in Iraq.

His lack of experience in Washington means nothing to me.
