Fish not brick

Hello everyone,

Please excuse the personal promotion, but it's for a very good cause indeed. I have signed up for Swimathon 2007, raising money for Marie Curie Cancer Care. I'm going to be attempting to swim 2.5km (that's over one and a half miles!), which is 100 lengths of my local pool. I shall be chanting the mantra "fish not brick" to try and stop myself sinking ;)

This is of course an enormous physical challenge for me, especially considering that 18 months ago I couldn't even walk that distance, I would have driven it instead! I have a training programme in place and will be working very hard to improve my swimming technique and fitness by the swim at the end of March. It's also a wonderful opportunity to raise money for a very worthwhile cause.

Marie Curie Cancer Care provides high quality nursing, totally free, to give terminally ill people the choice of dying at home supported by their families.

You can help them to carry on their fantastic work, and show your support for my swimming challenge by making a secure online donation using your credit or debit card.

Just paste this link into your browser:

Thanks for your support! (And big thanks to the people who responded when I e-mailed this round and have sponsored me already- you rock!)

I always felt bad for Poseidon. I mean, the sea is cool and all. But Poseidon, Zeus and Hades were supposed to get equal shares and Zeus totally took way more power than he should've.

I mean I guess earthquakes and tsunamis are rad...but do they beat lightning? No.

Wouldn't earthquakes really fall in Hades' underworld domain? Poseidon might even have to team up with him for a tsunami. He really only gets a clear shot at sailors and how big a deal is that?
