What is this about pretending? I'm naughty and nice, and full of sugar and spice, too. I'm a Spice Girl, or maybe a Power Puff Girl! That's it!I just don't understand how people can be so nice all the time (and most of them do are REALLY REALLY nice people and won't pretend like Sarah and Gail).....
San ** dra! (I guess I'd like to see their bad side once!)

Really, though, Sandra, what were you trying to say here when you mentioned me and my best internet buddy Sarah? You don't have to defend it, just explain. PM me if necessary.

I hope that didn't come across as a defensive slam against Pilotdrift. I am usually on that forum everyday and was just pointing out that there isn't much going on.As far as the pilotdrift board...not much goes on there. I just don't think their fan base is much of a message board type crowd.

Ha, I'll have to bang out some slam poet lyrics just for you! I love your attitude about the music biz. With this kind of insight, I could maybe even get involved as a participant and not just an observer.it's a vocation, and if you are fortunate as hell, you can support yourself somewhat. but guess what -- the more people you know, the more people have expectations of you, and the more people you will probably piss off eventually. more peeps, more conflict potential. everything EVERYTHING is a numbers game.
at the end of the day, it is all a mist that will evaporate anyway. nobody owns anyone or anything, and everyone gets exactly what they deserve. dig it if you do. if you don't, get a fucking guitar and make your own music. but don't be surprised if people love you one day and not the next.

Since this is definitely the wrong venue to talk about The Spork, I have started a new thread on the other forum to help deal with the central issue of this whole flare up:
http://www.thepolyphonicspreeforum.com/ ... opic=638.0
Hope to see you over there.

I'm not trying to prove anything. My post is a sincere invitation to anyone who has any issues regarding The Spork or the current state of the other forum to have a "real" discussion over there rather than here.
And given the number of posts and views on this thread, I hardly think these issues are dead. However, feel free not to join us over there if you disagree with me.

i'm not sure what good it is trying to start up a discussion about the 'bad' aspects of a band, or getting people who were intimate w/the band to talk further about it. i mean, i know i've talked w/a few of the former members and others close to it before and i have a general idea, but don't you think that a lot of the personal issues are just that--personal? and as such, it would seem that those people w/personal issues choose to keep them that way. yeah, i mean, as a guy who loves music and bands and such, it's interesting to hear about, but i have to take into consideration that former members talking about how their former band has gone all to hell would require a bit of pain for them to talk about. it's like asking someone about their ex-boyfriend or girlfriend or husband or wife, and it seems like it's good form to talk about the issues as they arise, and not to just expect them to draw it out for the sake of drawing it out. it just doesn't look good.I'm not trying to prove anything. Actually, I do think it's important that we talk about the "bad" aspects regarding The Spork and what you don't like about the new Spork forum. Ever since the official forum was shut down and management pulled the plug on the comments section of the blog, it appears that some of you feel like you don't have a proper outlet to talk about The Spork and voice your genuine concerns regarding the state of the band. And although I'm not quite sure why some of you don't feel "safe" to have a serious discussion on the other forum, I can assure you that it is as much your forum as it is mine and I would urge all of you to come over and join us even if only to "vent."

i cannot speak for the others, but for me, it's like, 'why bitch about it?' there's no new record for now, no real touring, and it's a downtime in general. besides, things change when records come out. plus, why waste time in speculation on what a record *might* sound like, or what *might* be the case, when there's no evidence to either support or disprove your opinion? i know that i feel like i'd have nothing to say about it that i've not said before, and so i choose not to participate in the Spork forum at this time.
as for former members, you have to remember something JB: that yes, they're ex members of the band or what have you, but the band is not merely a *band*; it's people. and sometimes saying something against the band sounds like it's saying something against the person, and sometimes...feelings get...complicated, and the distinction between the two is terribly, terribly thin....

I wouldn't view it as "bitching." Over the last few weeks, Rubbs has made several very interesting posts concerning missing spirit (click here), alluding to the death of The Spork (click here) and expressing his disgust with the current state of discourse on the other forum (reread this thread). Personally, I find all of these issues to be very relevant and think it's important that we explore them in greater detail (the good, the bad and the ugly) without involving people (both forkers and spork fans) who want no part in any of this.i cannot speak for the others, but for me, it's like, 'why bitch about it?' there's no new record for now, no real touring, and it's a downtime in general. besides, things change when records come out. plus, why waste time in speculation on what a record *might* sound like, or what *might* be the case, when there's no evidence to either support or disprove your opinion? i know that i feel like i'd have nothing to say about it that i've not said before, and so i choose not to participate in the Spork forum at this time.

hmmm...i'll admit that part of RM's appeal is he gets you to thinking, and what he means and what you think of when you read what he says might not be the same thing. i can't interpret him, but i'll simply echo what others have said and say that he's not saying anything bad or mean or what have you. he's simply speaking for his own feelings, in general.
because, damn, if you or i or anyone were to say i was 1/2 the fan of RM, i/you/they would be a liar. the man...
I <3 Rubbs...even though we don't see eye to eye, he's a beautiful soul. don't worry about what he says or what he thinks. it's all about what *you* think.
I absolutely agree with you. Unfortunately, starting this specific thread (along with the resulting commentary from the peanut gallery) really hurt the feelings of some very nice people and I think Rubbs should have found another way to express his disgust regarding the "discourse" on the other forum.hmmm...i'll admit that part of RM's appeal is he gets you to thinking, and what he means and what you think of when you read what he says might not be the same thing. i can't interpret him, but i'll simply echo what others have said and say that he's not saying anything bad or mean or what have you. he's simply speaking for his own feelings, in general.
Sometimes it's not what you intend, but how it is perceived that really matters.
