It's a bit late.
I was on the fence. I've almost been knocked off a few times. Sometimes the tightrope act just isn't worth the effort.
I'm done.

Now now. If you can't be nice about it and accept responsibility for your actions, we'll have to put you in time out.
And we don't want any of The Spork's BIG, BIG FANS to miss out on any of the snippets of wisdom from the "recording process" do we?
REPOST OF EVAN'S SATIRE HERE (edited out, though, for space. It's elsewhere on the board if you need to see it)

I'm just really disappointed it had to end this way. You guys introduced me to the world of music.

touché, yonkers. i wasn't trying to run from it, just trying to minimize the damage.
hifi and brine, just keep in mind that there are 20+ other people in the band who had nothing to do with this. i'm solely responsible.

I'd like to have a calm discussion about the situation rather than bring insults, name-calling and hurt feelings into the mix. There's been enough of that for me on message boards, chat rooms and this very blog.
Evan, as a self-proclaimed satirist, I understand what you did and why you did it. At the risk of being berated by my fellow revolutionaries, I will commend you in trying to make light of the situation. However, as I believe you now see, when a band (or any part of a band) directly interacts with their fans in such a manner, those fans may not take your light-hearted criticism in the manner in which it was intended and will therefore lash out against anyone involved, including the band.
It's interesting that you claim responsibility for the story and attempt to shield the band from any sort of repurcussions, but I'd like to liken the situation to a customer service job I've had. (who hasn't held one sometime?)
Even though the person answering the phone and talking to the enraged customer is not THE company itself, that person represents the company in all of its evil glory. No matter how kind the representative is, that customer is pissed off and will NOT calm down. Posting on the official recording blog, which has recently been engulfed in turmoil is much like this. You were the band's customer representative for that small time and anyone who navigates to this Web site will first see the giant Spree logo first and then read your post and associate the two.
While participating in a chat, largely dicussing your story, the reaction was interesting that the deletion garnered. It was as if almost all of the participants had already saved the story. I thought it a testament both to how supercore the band's (ex) fans are and just how rabid this disenfranchisement has become.
The whole forum debacle was the escalation of war. And your post, Mr. Hisey, may have simply been The Post Heard Round the World that starts the shitstorm that nobody can stop.

Wow.
It was an attempt by a band member to make light of a situation, and if you can't see that, I feel bad for you. I feel pretty certain that there are many fans who read the post with interest, but where not moved to threaten an s-storm. I didn't think the story was all that clever, but I am not in a band who is in the middle of working on something they want to be good, and well-received. It hurts when people one hopes to impress, and also hopes are loyal, immediately jump all over an attempt to include them in the process. I think most mature fans have been there, in a professional or personal situation, and would refrain from making it worse after an apology.
Evan didn't say, "I'm sorry if you were offended" or some other lame form of apolgy. He said, "My sincere apologies to anyone offended." That sounds pretty sincere to me.
Concerning the customer service analogy...I think that every company has had staff who make mistakes. Generally, a sincere apology is able to calm the storm. In this case, if people are so insecure that they can't accept one, they probably really didn't like the band that much anyway.
Looking forward to the new stuff...

By the way, I enjoyed the piece of satire.

I reposted the satire because it was posted for only a very short time, I believe. To see an apology with no backstory would only inspire more questions and rumors than one (read: you) would deem appropriate. By reposting the satire, I was attempting to quell the "OMG I heard he was apologizing for _________" crap that would have been inevitable.
I was attempting to subtract the name-calling and then I get called a hypocrite. Shall we examine the clues that might lead to me being called a hypocrite?
I reposted the satire and then called for civility. Perhaps I could see your argument there, being ignorant of my intentions. But as I have explained above, my intentions were not malicious and therefore I believe the "hypocrite" label is not applicable here.
What other possible way could I even remotely be called a hypocrite? I more or less sided with Evan about the satirical, light-hearted nature, I called for less namecalling (so calling me a hypocrite doesn't exactly meet me halfway, you know), and I simply illustrated what has been happening to a small portion of your fans, even if you're too blind to see it.
However, I would like to discuss with you this sentance: "i'm sorry, but halarious whether you know these people or not cuz i don't."
Maybe that's why you think it's hilarious, because you don't know the people. Take a step back from the whole band-fan seperation and look at these names as the humans that they are. The ones that are offended by this satire are the people who know these people and can actually see the reaction that this garners. Maybe you can't see the reaction because, from what I can tell, you don't care even if you try to make it seem like you do by starting this blog, giving us snippets and lyrics, etc.
So, if I may summarize my argument, you are attempting to look like you care when you truly do not care at all.
THAT, my friend, is a total hypocrite.

'round & 'round it goes, where it stops nobody knows....edit:
In light of what has happened, I'll let this thread slide, but this will be the last one. Next, we'll see what new words I've added to the "censored" list.
I've drank too much champagne for no reason (the best reason of all) and I vote for censorship *hiccup* because this is becoming not ony dreary but a drag.
"Don't go to bed mad. Stay up and fight"
if they ever paid enough attention on the forum, they would have realized that me, dalya, chris, diana, and anyone else doing this are not ordinary fans. WE FUCKING CARED ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED TO THEM. What pisses me off the most about this is that they're so open to criticism, yet they get all hissy-fitty when they actually get some. If I were them, I would have gotten the big lightbulb saying that something is SERIOUSLY WRONG HERE. SOME OF OUR OWN FANS HAVE A PROBLEM WITH WHAT WE ARE DOING.
This is why they don't care about their fans, this is why they're in it for themselves now, this is why they don't need us anymore. They seem like they're totally self-sufficient with their mindless don't-know-any-better flunky fans, HEY I LOVE YOU GUYS SO MUCH YOU'RE SO COOL WHO CARES IF YOU TREAT PEOPLE LIKE SHIT BECAUSE YOU SING COOL SONGS, I GOTTA GET HIGH NOW, so that's all they're gonna get. And I hope they crash and burn for that.
I'm done with this subject, I've said all I want to say. Unless something big and new comes out, I don't really want to talk about it anymore.

thank you Chris, and with that I'm locking this thread as well. Go rant in Dalya's thread for a while before I lock that one tomorrow (gotta give the UK peeps time to vent their shits).
