I'm sure I'll keep you all posted and maybe ask for opinions as the search continues. (I asked James about TCU before my son applied. BTW-he still likes it except for physics but he's done with it for good, now.)
At spring break, she and her daddy went to Providence to check out Brown and while they were up there, they also looked at Tufts, Lehigh, and Drexel (which is adjacent to Penn-so they kinda looked around there, too).
My daughter and I went to two joint presentations by some top schools. The first was here in Fort Worth with Duke, Georgetown, Harvard, Penn, and Stanford. The second was in Irving, so it got both Fort Worth and Dallas students. The schools represented were Brown, Rice, Cornell, Columbia, and the University of Chicago.
I wanted to go to Columbia after their presentation. Brown will be a really good fit for her if she can get in. She's trying to decide now if she should do early decision at Brown. She wants options but she knows if she's admitted to Brown that she'll choose it.

Wow, that sounds exciting!
I regretted not looking into more options for school, so I think she's doing the right thing researching so many. Keep us posted!!

"You'll have to wait until my cameo in the next season for confirmation" - eebs
"I'm one of my favorite things!" - irock
I wanna go to Columbia too! high five! Has she checked out NYU or Northwestern? I'm guessing she wants to live in a big city, based on the other schools.
Wash U is intensely academic. Both my brother and sister went there (my sister for undergrad and grad in occupational therapy and my bro is there now for law school). They both say the same thing... it is a school for nerds. If she's looking at Brown then I'm guessing that is not a turn-off to her. But Brown was my brother's top choice for undergrad and he chose not to apply to Wash U because it was "too geeky". So you may want to invest in a visit. St. Louis is a really fun town, though. Lots of music and Italian food. And obviously it is a really good and prestigious school with really good grad programs.
I also really recommend UTD as a fall-back. Especially since she is going into science (which UTD is known for). At first I didn't like it there because I was solely a Lit major, but since I have added biology I really really like it. And UTD is basically handing out full scholarships based solely on your essay and SAT scores.
My ultimate advice: the key to academic success is sitting in the front row. Period. She will make A's.
