i've started reading this, but i'll be honest: i hate it. love the music, hate the book. my problem with it is the book seems to fall into this category:

Willie's music is awesome and his movie acting is superior
Willie looks like Jesus; therefore his actions are Messiah-like
Willie and his friends are misunderstood
Willie makes bad decisions but that's okay because he's freakin' Willie Nelson
Willie is a down-to-earth guy who can do anything

Srsly--it's nearly 600 pages of fanboy gushing. Glad I didn't buy it!

Meeeee toooo.
I would recommend NOT seeing Happiness. Not that it's a bad movie, but it's in no way good enough to make it worthwhile to sit through all the fucked up pedophilia parts. Just my 2 cents.

huh. maybe the book is different. i dont even remember the plot anymore.

the best gross pedophile tale of all time will always be lolita. great book and i know kubrick's version is controversial bc he changed it, but i love the movie too.

Also, I feel funny around my friend Jen's cousin -- because he LOOKS like that actor.

people with really really light blue eyes freak me out. reminds me of the thin man in charlie's angels... i think the same actor was in willard. he usually plays scary people bc his eyes are scary and he has dark hair. oh and he was the young dad in back to the future i think! i dont know if they're contacts or natural, but i've seen people who naturally have eyes that light and it looks like they have no irises. creepy.

The original Marty McFly is totally the bomb.

Just finished The Omnivore's Dilemma, which I recommend highly to you all.

I'm almost done with The New Rulers of the World. It's all over the place with accusations about how evil the western nations are. Some of it seems like hyperbole. If half of it is true, not encouraging.

I also started The Entitled: A Tale of Modern Baseball. Not sure what to think of it yet.

I just got a copy of Charlie Brooker's book Screen Burn
Cruel, acerbic, impassioned, gleeful, frequently outrageous and always hilarious, Charlie Brooker's Screen Burn collects the best of the much-loved Guardian Guide columns in one easy-to-read-on-the-toilet package. Sit back and roar as Brooker rips mercilessly into Simon Cowell, Big Brother, Trinny and Susannah, Casualty, Davina McCall, Michael Parkinson...and almost everything else on television. This book will make practically anyone laugh out loud.
His BBC 4 series Screen Wipe is brilliant.

I just watched 2 episodes on youtube. He reminds me of someone but I can't think who. Maybe Josh Homme.

Speaking of book-to-movie. Anyone here a fan of José Saramago? If so, Blindness is set to come out this September.

I just finished reading:
Dearly Devoted Dexter (a continuation of my addiction to the tv show)
Slam
Heart Shaped Box

Just picked up the following at the library today:
The Economic Naturalist: Why Economics Explains Almost Everything
The Pilo Family Circus

My friend Jeff got me an autographed copy of Howl at an Allen Ginsberg reading in NYC. He wrote: To Amy, O (then he looked at Jeff and said Oooooooooh) and then signed his name. I'm still sad that I never saw him read in person. I used to be a huge huge beat fan, still am I guess.

I found On the Road really really difficult to read. I'm not sure why, but it took me forever to get through it. I easily read most of Kerouac's other books. My favourites are Desolation Angels, Dharma Bums and Big Sur.

Because I tend to only read Star Wars books in order to keep my brain turned off when it's not necessary.
