Nailed it! Between this and the news report I heard that they're going to phase in English as the primary language of instruction in public schools (god, I hope I misunderstood that news report) I worry what it's going to be like if I ever come back.Do I understand this correctly? These are teen-aged Asian girls getting cosmetic surgery on their eyes to look less Asian? That is fucking tragic.

Yesh, cosmetic surgery to enlarge the eyes. I can understand going in for surgery if you've been disfigured or if you're going to explode or whatever Katie said, but if you want to walk around looking sort of like a cross between A Clockwork Orange and a Bratz doll I want to punch you hard.
See now, that may be a "cosmetic" procedure, but it was actually "corrective". That's a whole 'nother thing. The stuff they can do nowadays is nothing short of miraculous for people with serious conditions or disfigurements. Mastectomies, burn injuries, cleft palate...the list goes on. I think it's wonderful and noble when a serious problem can be corrected by the skilled hand of a surgeon.i don't really think it's lame to pay some dollars to have my hair not grow back into my body and get infected and explode. might just be me, though.
Slanted eyes or small boobs do not qualify as "problems". People are stupid.

okay yeah sorry if i offended you i was just jokin'.not really, sugar. i don't really think it's lame to pay some dollars to have my hair not grow back into my body and get infected and explode. might just be me, though.beneficial, yeah.
still lame
i don't want you to explode.
forgive me? ;(
but i have to say i agree with my mom: big difference between cosmetic surgery and corrective surgery.
corrective: healthy, beneficial and sometimes necessary.
cosmetic: purely COSMETIC and superficial and it's just people with too much money trying to look good.

I've had my eyes and my armpits lasered. The eye surgury was corrective but not "necesary," the hair removal was because I'm lazy. So I guess that means I have too much money but it really doesn't feel that way to me. I wish I had too much money; then I'd get my legs lasered.
Lasers = awesome.
Lasers = awesome.
