I briefly spoke to Steve on the phone earlier, and it's really funny because even though I know he's British, I guess I never pictured him talking in a British accent. When I'm talking to him online, I always imagine him with an American accent I guess. I had the same reaction when I met dogatron back in December.

He's a tall drink of water too. I sat right next to him at dinner last night and didn't realize it until we all got up to leave.

He's 7'4''. And he can rip a Dallas phone book in half with his bare hands.

Hey y'all! I had a real good time last night. I need to show up to more of these things. Bumping into some of you in the middle of a band's set isn't condusive to conversation. Dinner was a good idea - whoever did that. It was nice meeting a few new faces and hanging out with familiar ones.

Steveums, please note: in America, you get charged for incoming calls as well as outgoing ones. I haven't figured out whether it's because when they set up the cell phone networks, they did so haphazardly, or because they're just greedy bastards. Probably a little of both...

On my list of Things To Do Before Dying, having dinner with a British person was #2. Thank you for helping me fulfill that lifelong dream, Steve. Now, on to #1: befriend a pirate.

P.S. It was really really nice to meet all of you.

P.P.S. Except for the ones who touched me inapropriately under the table.

AAARRRRGHHHH!!! All you really had to do was drift down to the other end of the table. As for the inappropriate touching, I'm pretty sure squeezle kept her hands to herself all night, so she'd be right out.

It's straight up Hugh Grant.

(I know I predicted that before Paul visited, but this time it was true. He does sound like Hugh, especially when he says, "Oh, buggah!")

A few thoughts. . .

1. Dinner WAS a lot of fun. :)

2. I think it is hilarious that the praying, 40-something couple next to our table at dinner on Steve's first night here eclipsed the afternoon transvestite spotting as "the weirdest thing" he'd seen in America so far.

3. Best Apologies of Steve's Trip, so far:
"I'm sorry. . . for everything." - waiter at Rockfish, after taking our order
"Sorry if I was boring!" - KathrynThe Great on her way out the door

- Mere "organic orange thief" 1975

"You'll have to wait until my cameo in the next season for confirmation" - eebs
"I'm one of my favorite things!" - irock
