No GMT is GMT, CDT is -5 GMT and CST is -6 GMT. Apparently those Brits have their own version of Daylight Savings Time called British Summer Time, though. Maybe this will help. But what about the Daylight Savings Time? GMT doesn't change, does it?11pm. 6 hours difference.

i think we go from gmt to bst (british summer time, clocks an hour forward) a week before the clocks change in the us. there was usually a week or two when our transatlantic schedule got a bit confused by itthere are a couple of weeks when we're 7 hours ahead...I don't know all the specifics...But what about the Daylight Savings Time? GMT doesn't change, does it?11pm. 6 hours difference.

You know what the best part of picking up someone from the airport (especially brits, danes, canadians, scots, etc) is the moment they are first blasted by the heat as they walk through the automatic doors and head outside.
It reminds me of that scene in Cool Runnings where the Jamaicans stand frozen in the doorway of the airport. But just the other way around.

ACTUALLY.... I'd say SF is just as many wack jobs, just in the opposite direction. Maybe if he went both places and averaged them he'd have a reasonable outlook on what it means to be American.and if you want a more reasonable (progressive) outlook on what it means to be american...come to SF.
Welcome to Tejas, Steveums!!!
See you tomorrow.
See. You. Tomorrow.
There are a lot more trees than i expected. And all the houses in the upper class areas are alarmingly clean - even the 1920s ones look like new builds.YEAH!!! So, what are your initial impressions?
The only thing that's caught me off guard was some people saying grace in the restaurant tonight. Never happens in england.
23 hours awake! bedtime!
Yep. Reminds me of last summer when I picked up Miss Powers from Montreal at the airport. She had a stunned expression on her face, and the first words out of her mouth were IT'S SOOOO HOOOTTTTT! I had a good chuckle and assured her that absolutely everything is air conditioned. You know what the best part of picking up someone from the airport (especially brits, danes, canadians, scots, etc) is the moment they are first blasted by the heat as they walk through the automatic doors and head outside.
Welcome to our world Steveums, can't hardly wait to see ya! Phyllis is overcome with excitement as well - last night she kept saying "Steeeeeve". Our interweb isn't hooked up at our new place yet so she can't get online for a few more days.
