I'll never understand why you can get a refrigerator cheaper than a couch. It seems like a fridge is so much more complicated...

My couch was freeee too.

Furtinure does cost too much; you can usually find nice antiques cheeper than new stuff made of press board and paper, but antique couches and chairs aren't comfortable.

Actually it's better to pay a little more for quality.
I've had both and the last 2 loveseats we spent some dough on have lasted 15+ years with kids and cat. The fabric is finally wearing so when Jeremy's done with school, that's my next big purchase.
Though I don't think I'll find any thing I like as well and might have to go the custom made route (and that will probably cost some $$$).

my love seat was free. It's beginning to look like it, but that's because it goes outside sometimes.
