You Texan, you! We took my son to the University of Tulsa and OSU to check them out and when we told my brother-in-law (who was born in Shreveport, BTW) he couldn't believe that we were actually considering sending him to school in OKLAHOMA. (He decided on TCU but Tulsa was close.)Like I'm gonna believe a bunch of Oakies.
Did you you know that calling someone an "Okie" in California is REALLY considered an insult?

"Okie, for a time, was used pejoratively, mainly by Californians and politically motivated writers, to describe white and mixed Indian blood migrant farm workers and their families forced to flee their farms during the Great Depression of the 1930s. Californians used the term for residents from many states, not just those from Oklahoma."Did you you know that calling someone an "Okie" in California is REALLY considered an insult?Like I'm gonna believe a bunch of Oakies.
Take that you Okies!

No, but I can see why.Did you you know that calling someone an "Okie" in California is REALLY considered an insult?

When Karin (from CA) met Ben (from Tx), the guy Abby (from CA) was gonna marry, Karin descibed him as "a bubba." Abby and Karin have been unable to convince any of us non-CAians how that wasn't an insult. But they insist it isn't.
CAians and their weird language.
