Wes Anderson's Amex commercial

Postby aquaphase » Sat Apr 29, 2006 10:19 pm

Pure unbridled fucking genius. I don't think I've ever laughed this hard at a damn credit card commercial. Once again, Wes proves that he is the man.

I haven't seen it at full length. It's brilliant!

"She's a big fan of yours."
"Is that true?"
*shrugs*

Sam and I saw this commercial Saturday night, and I said, "Uh oh, Dalya's going to be crushed."

although on the bright side at least he finally made something (since bottlerocket) that doesnt revolve around a dysfunctional father son relationship.

my two favorite lines:

"Can you make a 357 with a bayonett?"

and

"Are those my birds?"

"I think so"

"I need those!"

that was awesome!

But maybe he really loves his American Express card? Would that be selling out? Or, it was a chance to make something interesting on the man's dime. Or, like Luke and Owen, it takes some crap to span between quality projects. I wouldn't call him a sellout until it affects that actual craft of film making. If that happens, then run him up a pole.

I don't get it.
Yesterday, I thought it might have been the hangover, but today, it's still not very interesting.

ive seen some other directors that i like do those commercials and they only do them with support of the tribeca film fest, if it gets more people aware of a film fest i have no problem with it and dont think its selling out beside it not like he was just in it he clearly wrote and directed it also, and from working on films some time you do work for things that you wouldnt support to make ends meet, not that wes needs the money but still......
