What Forkers is...

Almost every time I wear my Forkers shirts, I get asked the general inane question "What is Forkers?". Over the past couple of years I have pondered the correct answer to this question other than "It's rather hard to explain," or "an international conspiracy."
We Forkers are a service organization. Now, many of us may be servicing one another (badum-bum), but I think we are, indeed, a service organization. There are all the things we do to keep the alcohol industry out of the red, the thousands of countless animals that would have died of starvation had we not grilled them, and, of course, the selfless community outreach we do to help the plastic people realize just who they are.

You could argue that Forkers is an exchange program.
We've helped ship 2 Americans to England. We sponsor US/Europe cultural/travel experiences. We may import a Scotsman.
We swap regional music.
And we support ethnic food and imported beverage industries.

Yes, that's it - a cultural exchange group promoting harmony and understanding that will ultimately bring about world peace! I feel so noble.

when people ask me what forkers is, they usually guess what it is
for example: "what IS forkers? like a baseball team or something?"
and i reply "yes, exactly."
but now i have a "real" answer.

at lollapalooza, three people commented on my forkers shirt. the first two were just some guys who shouted "FORKERS", so I threw the fork both times and they just looked confused and i felt a bit silly.
the third was some lady at a drinks stall who said "i love your t-shirt". I decided to be honest and so I explained, "it's a drunken in-joke that's been taken way, way too far."
i kind of think this was irresponsible forkers behaviour, but i was too tired to care.

I thought I had brought my gray f-shirt to the fest, only to find a freebie Jesuit Alum shirt in my bag. Disappointment.

I don't know where
this is. But I think it pretty much sums the spirit of forkers.

I've always considered the Forkers a combo international conspiracy/service organization, a la the Freemasons/Shriners.

There was actual furniture burnage at the 04 pre-Xmas show, wasn't there?
But no self-respecting Forker would talk like the fucking Swedish Chef.
