Poor America

I thought about making it "shport" in general, but I really don't care about the others.

More commentary on what it will take for the US to make it:

Not bad points, but I think the second comment, from Catorce, is probably a good one as well.

Eric Wynalda on Bruce Arena:
"He can take a team to a certain level, but he has no idea where the next level is," Wynalda said. "How much does he know about playing in Europe, other than having a hot dog and a beer in the stands? Hearsay? Does he talk to the players? That's justification to know? Has he ever coached there and have that pressure? No. Sorry, I'm just pointing out the obvious."

Wynalda has been growing on me lately. We need talking heads who will take off the kids gloves and speak what's on their mind. Soccer pushers are so afraid of upsetting the soccer moms they use nothing but soft sided fisher price words.

I think this news can be called the official footnote to USA's World Cup '06 campaign:

- USA Drops to 16 in FIFA Rankings
- Bruce Arena's Contract Won't be Renewed

ps - we're still 2 spots ahead of Mexico, so we've got that going for us.
