World Cup 2010

I thought about making it "shport" in general, but I really don't care about the others.

World Cup 2010

Not long to go - after watching this ad I'm ready to pull on the 3 lions - especially that bit of silence, not often you see that in on the television.

Invoking Bobby is just downright unfair.

Seriously, though, that is a pretty damn incredible commercial.

USA! USA! USA!

Edie and I will be vocally pulling for the USA. We have a family barbecue on the 12th (day of the match). I need to get my USA strip and baby USA strip.

Also, there will be a Denmark supporter now in the family, as we just got back from Copenhagen yesterday where my Brother-in-law (finally) married his girlfriend. It will be an international affair...

Ja "and had Poland made it, it would have been four teams supported in our group...yep, we have a very international family"mes.

love rooney in his caravan and the simpsons segment in the nike video!

The new national obsession is recording a world cup song and sticking it on youtube. Rik Mayall included.

No official songs this year, so it's a bit of a free for all.

Looks like South Africa is bad for your health -

Ferdinand crocked knee
Drogba fractured elbow

Not to mention the pre-World Cup injuries -

David Beckham: England midfielder ruled out with ruptured Achilles tendon injury.

Michael Owen: Manchester United forward suffered detached hamstring in February which ended World Cup hopes.

Michael Essien: Chelsea midfielder misses South Africa due to knee injury suffered while playing for Ghana in January’s Africa Cup of Nations.

Michael Ballack: Germany captain ruled out of World Cup following ankle injury caused by late tackle by Portsmouth’s Kevin-Prince Boateng in FA Cup Final.

Charlie Davies: USA’s star forward suffered face, elbow, femur, tibia and fibula injuries in car accident in October. Returned to training with Sochaux, but failed to make US squad.

Rene Adler: Germany’s first-choice goalkeeper was ruled out last month after being forced to undergo surgery following serious rib injury.

Carlos Costly: The Honduras forward had been a key figure in qualifying rounds, but a foot injury sustained on club duty with Romania’s Vaslui cost him World Cup spot.

Jose Bosingwa: Chelsea full-back missed out on selection for Portugal squad due to long-term knee injury.

Salvador Cabanas: Paraguay forward is still recovering after being shot in the head during a botched robbery in January.

Tim Brown: New Zealand vice-captain suffered fractured right shoulder in friendly defeat against Australia last Monday. Named in squad, but unlikely to be fit to play.

Owen Hargreaves: England midfielder missed out after playing for less than a minute for Manchester United last season due to double knee surgery.

Thought I'd leave picking my world cup until the last minute in case of the aforementioned injuries http://www.forkerscentral.com/WC - so thanks for the new unpick function Justin!

the amount of injuries to top talent is crazy.

for the US Bocanegra and Gooch are still limping back to full health.

and yes! on the unpick function.

and on the injury bug, forgot Altidore rolled his ankle yesterday and is "day to day", holding him out of the Australian friendly, but not counting him out yet.

De nada. It was more than necessary this year with everyone getting jacked up. What scares me is that the "friendlies" aren't over yet.

Two more for the list - Diarra's already out for the French but they've announced that John-Obi Mikel has been ruled out for Nigeria today as an existing knee injury means he won't be fit to play.

France 0.1 China

so France will be in the Final then
