Liverpool and Tom Hicks?

I thought about making it "shport" in general, but I really don't care about the others.

I've not heard his name linked with them.

Latest reports are that the Dubai group pulled out and that they are talking with the guy that owns the Montreal Canadiens.

I don't think they should allow Tom Hicks to ruin another organisation...

I was at the last rangers game a couple seasons ago, after the game we were waiting by the Hicks-coptor. Out comes he and his family and a rather drunken roach screams out "hey hicks, how 'bout getting us a winner next season"... i did my part.

Reports are the group are going to purchase Liverpool FC for $450 Million. That's a STEAL for a club like Liverpool. Of course, I think they need to build a new stadium, or at least seriously upgrade Anfield....

Naw, it wouldn't be worse, perhaps the same. Jerry Jones, Dan Snyder, and Al Davis are basically the same. Except Jerry and Al have three super bowl trophies each, where as Dan has none.

Any of them would declare themselves general manager, start buying players, and probably fire Arsene Wenger in the stupidest move ever...

while not a dan snyder fan, he wouldnt be nearly as bad as tom hicks. hicks has proven in a league with no salary cap that he doesnt mind cutting/trading players to reduce salaries in order to turn a profit.

snyder and jones have both proven they are willing to spend money to try to put a contender on the field. as a fan, i will take that anyday.

Jerry as GM of an premiership team? That would be entertaining. A disaster I'm sure, but entertaining.

I don't think Al Davis belongs in this conversation anymore as I am pretty sure he has lost the last thread connecting him to reality.

Trent Dilfer can thank Mr. Davis for his ring. They were talking the other day on the radio about the worst quarterbacks to ever play in the superbowl. He made the top (or bottom) five and was the only one that had won.

Are international ownership groups common in Spain, Italy, etc? Is this a trend that will continue?

um...Dilfer won his super bowl with the Ravens?

Brad Johnson won his with the Bucs...

neither one of those a formidable force at QB though....

Sorry. I was thinking that it was Kerry Collins and the Raiders that they played, but it was Kerry Collins and the Giants. Which brings to mind another fair-at-best quarterback to make it to the big game, Rich Gannon.
