My favourites so far, in order of purchase (why not):
Eef Barzelay- Bitter Honey
Eels- Live At Town Hall (if a live album can count)
Loose Fur- Born Again In The USA
Ramona Cordova- The Boy Who Floated Freely
Adem- Love And Other Planets
I'm From Barcelona- Let Me Introduce You To My Friends
Foundation- The Secret Miracle Foundation
They are all really quite brilliant.
Howe Gelb, and The Nag's Head have had some interesting moments. Calexico was ok, Broken Social Scene was less so, and The Flaming Lips topped the pile of nono'ness for me.
Tunng, Psapp, and Grandaddy are all pre-ordered, with only semi-hopes for Grandaddy.
Really looking forward to The Divine Comedy's album in June. Have avoided the naughty downloading of its leakedness, but pretty much all opinions of it seem to be great, which is good to hear.

yeah yeah yeahs, vums? NO NO NO!
but 'vums, you must eschew the yeahyeahyeahs and go straight for their new member Imaad Wasif's solo album. it's the kind of thing i know you like. check it out here: http://www.myspace.com/imaadw
i have to say that all four of bob pollard's solo albums he's released this year are brilliant. i thought his main, 'official' record From a Compound Eye, was his best in years...but the three records he has coming out in the next few weeks totally, utterly KICK THAT ONE IN THE FACE. or, should i say, kick it in the compound eye? heh.
and i highly recommend paul's recommendation of Function's "The Secret Mountain Fountain". that record is sooo brilliant. and, the thing is, it's brilliant in spite of being/because it is so overwhelmingly indulgent.
another band i'm really digging is Persephone's Bees. It's kind of like Suddenly, Tammy! (if you know who they are) but it's also got this weird joni mitchell vibe, and it's got an even weirder psych-rock vibe to it, too. the lead singer is russian and has this really amazing voice. also, that she's anton newcomb's former old lady doesn't hurt, either.

I use it quite a bit up here, so I assume it's pretty much universally North American. I assume.nope, 'old lady' is a southern term for 'girlfriend'i know you like to be down on your britspeak, but i don't think she's anton's ex-mother. You mean missusalso, that she's anton newcomb's former old lady doesn't hurt, either.
i'm the law of the land, i got ga-ga-ga-ga-guh-guh-girls on the command
