It's been a wee bit since we've talked music and I know that a lot has changed. What are you listening to?

Here are my recent faves

Nothing
Protomartyr
The Stargazer Lilies
Ghost
Grave Pleasures

Of course, a lot of the old stuff has been crawling back out of the woodworks. It's always good to see some of my fave old bands making new music.

I'm bad about keeping up with music. The Isle of Man is a horrible place for it too as I'm not sure grunge has happened here yet...but I've got to the point a lot of the new stuff just sounds like whirring white noise...so I know I'm missing the good stuff somewhere.

One band I'm excited about is from Fort Worth, they're really new but worth watching out for. They're not there yet but are off to a fantastic start...elements are there and I look forward to watching the development.

I've been really into my misery country at the moment, so I'll recommend Angel Olsen, SUSTO and The Weather Station.

Line & Circle are a good indie rock band, they jangle like early R.E.M.

A band from Austin called Sweet Spirit are lots of fun too, you can tell they would be a riot live.

Really liking a singer songwriter called Laura Stevenson, she's got about 4 albums out and the latest "Cocksure" is filled with Rilo Kiley style pop songs.

In terms of local Scottish music, check out a band called Depeche Choad. Stupid songs that are very catchy.

Laura is the best. I accidentally saw her open for another band about two years ago and was an instant fan (she's also cute as a button). It seems like she comes through Dallas a lot.

My wife and I travelled to Edinburgh to see her (which is about a 3 hour drive for us). We are very keen to put her on when she comes back to the UK next year, she only played to about 20 people at the venue we saw her at, which happened to be a karaoke bar.

For something new, I can't stop listening to a song called I am Just a Whisper by The Brass Bed. Everything else of theirs I've come across has disappointed.
