The National

Music, movies, entertainment, etc. Because James wanted it (and seems like a pretty good idea)

The National

I know there has been discussion before, and I know some people like them, others hate them or find them boring. I liked them ok for the most part.

...but "High Violet" leaves everything they've done to this point in the dust. It's one of the best albums I've heard in my life. I didn't think they'd be capable of that.

It also took me about 25 listens to come to that conclusion. Commutes come in handy at times...

i will have to give it a listen. i was surprised at all the buzz they got for boxer, which i legitimately never got through without falling asleep. granted, i was working like 80 hours a week at the time, so that might've contributed. i do like that song "bloodbuzz ohio" that i've heard played on KXT, not sure what album that's off, though.

Boxer was a good album, but no doubt it was over-hyped. I think there are 6-8 really great songs and the rest is filler. I think it was people jumping the gun, really.

on High Violet, there is no filler at all. And yes, "Bloodbuzz Ohio" on HV, but I wouldn't say it stands out from the rest.

yeah, KXT is really good for playing a variety of songs off the album, not just the single or whatever. i'll have to give HV a listen.

the voice always reminded me of someone, could never place it.

Then it hit me.

Brendan Perry, mostly. Sometimes spot on.
